About me
Anand Ramamoorthy is a seasoned, well-rounded technology executive (‘builder mindset’) with over two decades of global experience building high-performance teams, introducing flagship products, scripting executable strategies, driving nonlinear business growth, and leading organizational transformation. Anand is the founding Managing Director at Micron India and is responsible for engineering, R&D, operations, and sales. Micron is a $30B global leader in semiconductor memory and storage chips. Under Anand’s leadership, Micron India has grown to over four thousand professionals in less than 3.5 years making it one of the fastest headcount and competency ramp in Indian semiconductor history. The India-based engineering teams have impacted over $25B of product revenue across mobile, automotive, data center and IoT/embedded markets while generating over 1000 inventions/patents. Micron recently decided to set up India’s first semiconductor manufacturing operation in Gujarat heralding a new era in the country’s march towards self-sufficiency in this sector. Prior to Micron, Anand was at Intel (and Intel security) heading their South Asia business for semiconductors and cybersecurity software. At Intel, Anand incubated their mobile and tablet business from scratch and led the fastest growth in data center business among all regions in APAC. Prior to Intel, Anand was Managing Director at Harman India, a leading global consumer electronics company, reporting to Dinesh Paliwal (Global CEO). At Harman, Anand was instrumental in setting up their first India factory in Chakan while building a strong 700+ people Design, R&D and IT organization. Anand started his career in Silicon Valley as a chip designer before moving on to roles of increasing impact and mandate including global GM roles with full P&L and product development responsibility. After spending 12+ years in the US, Anand moved back to India over a decade ago. Anand is currently on the board of BoAT (A consumer electronics unicorn in India), Uniken (software leader in mobile app security), Enovix (silicon-based lithium battery maker) and Hexagon (global leader in digital reality solutions, combining sensor, software, and autonomous technologies). Anand is part of NASSCOM’s executive council, USIBC’s advisory board, CII’s semiconductor and manufacturing task force as well as AMCHAM’s National Executive Board. He is also a part of the Telangana government’s investment council. Additionally, he is a board advisor to BITS Pilani (CREST, Hyderabad) and Prof. of practice at IIT Roorkee. He is a frequent speaker at industry (NASSCOM/CII/AMCHAM) and academia events, actively mentors entrepreneurs and enjoys strong relationships within the CxO and government ecosystem. He is an active media contributor and has been featured frequently on CNBC (‘Young Turk’), NDTV and other top media channels. Anand is an alum of Harvard Business School (AMP). He obtained his undergraduate degree in engineering from IIT Roorkee followed by M.S. and MBA degrees from leading US universities. Anand is married and spends time between Hyderabad and Bangalore. He is an avid reader, prefers mostly non-fiction/biographies, and enjoys playing tennis, and discussing geopolitics and deep tech with his son.
